Net-Lab back up

May 25th, 2009 by Richard

Our regular visitors will have noticed that Net-Lab has been down for over a week. Apologies to anyone who has been trying to use the site - we’re now back up and running.

My host account suffered a malicious code injection which spread bad vibes to all of the sites in the account - including Net-Lab, resulting in a temporary blacklist on Google.

Anyway, we’re back up and running thanks to a backup restore point, but have lost about a month worth of blog posts and statistics. Nevermind.

A half hour selection of 8 tracks composed on a collection of warm, organic feeling vintage hardware synthesisers & drum machines.

NL40 / Pantomime

Savoie

Pantomime

Style: Electronica, Jazztronica, Breaks

Somewhere between Amon Tobin and The Cinematic Orchestra, this short EP is a beautiful interlude into the Jazz-tronica world of Savoie. Best enjoyed with a sit down and a cocktail, it's both fun and classy melodies interact with time-consumingly structured jazz drum patterns that sound fluid and natural.

NL39 / Sisters

TV Youth

Sisters

Style: Electro, Techno, Electronica

TV Youth presents a 25 minute collection of trademark big-basskick dancefloor-filling electro tunes and slightly more downtempo, thoughtful numbers. "Forward Actions" starts the game introducing all of your expected 00's electro character sounds, followed closely by "Stations", with a funkier and more tightly constructed vibe. Rolling straight across to "Sisters" riff-kick pounding which by its half way point has progressed to a quite complex piece combining rolling drums, guitar riff....

NL38 / Charlbury Gardens

Odan

Charlbury Gardens

Style: Acid, Electro, Electronica

Odan has one of the most engaging and danceable live shows we have seen in the last few years, so it brings us great pleasure to present some of his work for release on Net-Lab. Charlbury Gardens is a collection of super danceable electro/acid tracks, jumping straight into it with "Oof2" and its shuffling beats and gorgeously sqweltchy bassline. "Kingswood Funk" is an obvious favorite too, with a really strong melody, and then later some quite sad feeling synth tones...

NL37 / Acid Blue

V/A

Acid Blue

Style: Acid, Electro, Techno, Electronica

Part One of our "Acid..." compilation series, featuring 15+ tracks from some established names as well as some total newcomers in a collection of Acid influenced material featuring many a sqwelchy bassline. Includes tracks from Chevron, Voltek, Mully and Shinra amongst many others. Dedicated to anyone who remembers when basslines were a little more diverse than a wobble, the compilation explores both melodic electro-style acidic numbers, through to the more pounding techno and experimental variety.
